This is a wonderful opportunity to visit historic Park Farm on a private tour with owner Francis Rumming and his son Chris Rumming who manages the farm with an emphasis on environmental sustainability and a passion for wildlife.
Park Farm, with its Grade 2 Listed barn, is the original ‘home farm’ that supplied Lydiard Park when the Bolingbrokes resided there. The Rumming family have farmed there since 1914 and today they breed grass fed cattle, locally famous turkeys, sheep and pigs.
The farm tries to encourage wildlife wherever possible and the wide uncut field margins and hedges provide cover for many birds and insects. The farm is home to at least 70 bird species, the latest addition to the list was a Little Egret that visited the farm pond.
The tour is suitable for all ages and for those who do not wish to walk out into the farmland there is seating and plenty to discover in close proximity to the farmhouse. The tour includes homemade refreshments in the barn courtesy of Mrs. Sheila Rumming.
