The Ladies of Lydiard by Frances Bevan

Local historian and author Frances Bevan gives us a highly readable celebration of and sometimes a commiseration with the ladies who called Lydiard Park their home. She describes the lives of some of her favourite characters, from Anne Leighton, the young wife of Sir John St. John 1st Baronet when the St. John fortunes were flying high to Bessie Howard, the gamekeeper’s granddaughter who married a lord.
