The Friends of Lydiard Park and Lydiard’s small team of dedicated  gardeners are teaming up to create a beautiful Tulip and Spring flower display in the borders of the Walled Garden next year.
To prepare the way for mass bulb planting this Autumn we are seeking enthusiastic gardeners to help with clearing the beds that have become a little overrun and bag some plants of their own in the process.

The sessions will be running on Thursday 18th July and Thursday 1st August 2024 from 10am – 2pm with an introductory talk and a seasonal picnic lunch included. Booking required.

Garden Manager Andy Dyers says:
Gardening in a friendly team not only gets a lot done but it’s a fun social event too and a chance to meet new friends. You need to be reasonably fit and have a sufficient knowledge to know what you are doing, but I’m sure there are hundreds of amateur gardeners across the town who qualify for that! We will have a surplus of perennial plants as we clear the borders so there will be some treasures you can tuck into your own garden later.

Friends’ Chairperson Sarah Finch-Crisp says:
The Friends of Lydiard Park are delighted to fund the new Spring flower displays in the Walled Garden and encourage anyone who enjoys creating their own gardens to get involved. The restoration of this once lost garden was completed nearly twenty years ago and volunteers played a huge part in making that happen, laying the paths and setting out the borders. To ensure we have an equally wonderful display next Spring, please do sign up for our special volunteer events.

Spaces are limited to ten people per session. Please could you bring your own small hand tools that you are comfortable using. To book your place please register here. Places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
