Enchanting music from the Goddard Ensemble specially chosen to celebrate the natural world in the beautiful surroundings of the great hall of Lydiard House, plus a complimentary drink and canapes served on the terrace.
This is a wonderful opportunity to hear Swindon’s long-standing traditional wind quintet; an accomplished amateur group with a wide repertoire. Ensemble member and flautist Louise Rhoades says:
“We have a shared passion for the Wind Quintet and enjoy playing the wide variety of music that is available for this ensemble. For us, it is the blending of five unique instrumental sounds that we never tire of and hope you will enjoy too”.
Relax and enjoy beautiful pieces of music from Chanson de matin by Edward Elgar, Gustave Holst’s Second Suite In F, Country Gardens by Percy Grainger and The Watermill by Ronald Binge. The programme will also include some delightful snippets from the nature writings of Lydiard’s last Lord, Vernon St.John, a passionate musician who dedicated his life to the study of the natural world.
The setting of Lydiard Park on a summer evening provides a lovely location for enjoying a glass of bubbly and homemade canapes created by Lydiard Hotel’s talented chef, Marcus Vevey.
