This year, The Friends of Lydiard Park are supporting Swindon Open Studios with a specially themed exhibition of work by local fine artist Billy Beaumont. Lydiard Park and St. Mary’s Church have inspired Billy’s work over many years and he continues to create a wide range of paintings and other art forms that capture the history and mystery of its rich heritage. And whatever your age, regardless of whether you have picked up a paintbrush before, you can help Billy create a giant Lydiard mural.

Billy is not above having a little fun, producing reproduction paintings of recognisable Old Masters in which you can discover a Lydiard reference. Don’t miss his take on Monet, Picasso and Seurat!  Billy will also be showing a historical view of Lydiard Park through the ages, including a stunning recreation of Lydiard House in the 17th Century.

Lydiard House Picasso Style by Billy Beamont

Perhaps most startling of all is a collection of time travel pieces of medieval life around St. Mary’s Church in the form of direct plaster casts of hidden features in the church which Billy was able to make during the St. Mary’s Church Conservation Project.

The free exhibition will be open daily between 11am and 3pm between the 21st and 29th September.

Drop-in mural painting activities will also be running each day thanks to support from The Art Society Kennet and Swindon. Visitors will be able to purchase artworks directly from Billy Beaumont who will be on site and available to chat to visitors.

Members of The Friends of Lydiard Park will receive an invitation to a private view
