Lydiard Park Hotel and Conference centre re-opened in May 2023 following a £2.6 million makeover which has transformed its appearance. Members of the Friends of Lydiard Park travelling to our recent events have already given the newly furbished bedrooms a thumbs up as well as the quality of the meals. And you don’t have to be staying at the hotel to enjoy the new facilities; members of the public are welcome to book a spot of lunch or simply pop in for a drink in the new Parkside Bar and Restaurant with its Edwardian palm court feel.
Work to transform the former redundant swimming pool area near the entrance to the centre began in January this year when the pool was filled in and the entire room stripped to a shell.
Walk into the centre today and you will be pleasantly surprised. A new lantern roof provides a light and airy conservatory style atmosphere where it’s a pleasure to spend time. The adjacent large restaurant area provides both indoor and outdoor seating in the north courtyard of Lydiard House. The food here is described as fabulously unfussy and dishes are created and cooked from the wonderful natural Wiltshire larder.
A large number of local and regional businesses and organisations attended a grand opening at the end of May and interest in the new hotel, and conferencing facilities, appears to be strong. Having such a large conference and wedding space in the beautiful environment of Lydiard Park is an obvious attraction and all the income generated will help support the wider park and historic Lydiard House.
